About
11-year MLB veteran and member of the largest family lineage of Major Leaguers in history — his grandfather Sam played for the White Sox in 1951, his father Jerry Sr. played 13 seasons, and his brother Jerry Jr. played 16 seasons. Scott debuted in May 2004 as the fifth Hairston to reach the Majors, playing 11 seasons for the Diamondbacks, Padres, Athletics, Mets, Cubs, and Nationals while hitting 106 career home runs. Since retiring in 2016, he has turned his passion for playing into teaching, focusing on the fundamentals and techniques he learned from his father and coaches throughout his career. He is a hitting instructor at AZ Dingers in Mesa, where his knowledge of the game has played a key role in developing local youth into elite players.
